On 29 April 2011 the wedding of HRH Prince William and Catherine Middletonwill take place, and to help you celebrate the occasion Manchester City Council, kind souls that they are, will waive any fees normally charged for the temporary closure of roads.

MadLab The Northern Quarter based Manchester Digital Laboratory is havinga fundraiser in honour of the royal wedding. This includes fancy dress so theywant you to come as a royal – past or present – and the night will include araffle, best dressed prize, dance off and film screening.

The Wedding

The Printworks Guaranteed to go ahead no matter the weather, if all otherstreet parties fail this is the one to go to. The party takes place throughoutthe Printworks and will have free face painting for the kids, live music andfood samples from the various restaurants while the ceremony is shown on a bigscreen.

The Alternative Wedding

Northern Quarter (Edge Street and sections of Hare and Oak Street) Billed as an 'alternative celebration' with no mention of Wills or Kate, arts andevents manager Carole Keating came up with the idea over Twitter and created astorm. With a 1940s theme and 2000 revelers expected, the day should bebursting with activity with craft workshops, treasure hunts, tombola, buskersand street games.
